The Division of Neurology is part of a comprehensive neuroscience center that collaborates with Marshall Health Network, a network of 3 hospitals (only one of which houses pediatric inpatients) and numerous outpatient facilities serving as the clinical arm of the School of Medicine at Marshall University.
The Marshall Health Network includes Cabell Huntington Hospital, a 303-bed teaching hospital (level II joint trauma center), St. Mary s Medical Center, a 413-bed teaching hospital, Hoops Family Children s Hospital, a 72-bed pediatric specialty hospital within Cabell Huntington Hospital (features a dedicated children s hospital and a NAEC Level 3 epilepsy program offering advanced epilepsy care, pediatric sleep medicine, and a variety of other pediatric subspecialities); and Rivers Health, a 101 acute-bed hospital.
At Marshall Health, our pediatric neurologists work as a team with the child s pediatrician and other pediatric specialists to care for children with more complex medical conditions, such as epilepsy, birth defects, or intellectual disability. These conditions are chronic, requiring ongoing care and close follow-up throughout childhood and adolescence.
The Division of Neurology has grown considerably over the years with 11 adult neurologists, 2.5 pediatric neurologists, 3 NP s, and 3 neuro psychology PhD faculty. Marshall University also has an ACGME Fully Accredited Adult Neurology Program with 5 residents per year for four years of post-graduate training. There is currently no residency/fellowship available for child neurology.
